Lake Forest Disc Golf
Rules of the Course
What NO Basket?
This course is unique mainly because the “pin” is not your normal Disc Golf Basket. None of the 18 holes has a Basket; instead, the pins are storm drains, trees, wooden posts, a tree stump and a red rock!
Gentleman’s Game
Because there is no basket, pin shots are sometimes questioned and difficult to determine. When this event happens, the majority of players who witness the event will decide the shooter’s faith. However, the shooter does not have to accept their ruling. This is a “gentleman’s game” meaning it is your integrity level if you feel strongly enough to count the shot as good. This method of ruling applies to any issue that come into question, stepping over the line when teeing off, etc.
Player Status
We have two player statuses, “beginner” and “experienced” for all the holes that have a storm drain as their “pin”. For ““beginners” the pin is any portion of the cement storm drain, whereas the pin for “experienced” players is only the top metal portion. Your disc just need to make contact with the metal lid – it does not need to land and stay on it – see red box picture.
Tie Breaker
In the event there are two or more players that have the exact same winning score at the end of 18 holes, both players must agree to accept the tie and decline sudden death. However, any player can demand a sudden death tiebreaker. The player that teed off first to hole #18, is the one that decides if play starts from the front nine or the back nine. Sudden death, play continues to the next consecutive holes until one player is a winner.
We have adopted many of the traditional rules from the PDGA Professional Disc Golf Association.
